Biblical Garden

The Biblical Garden in Yad Hashmona is perfecty located in the Judean Hills, 15 km. west of Jerusalem, 45 km. from Tel Aviv, about 30 minutes from Ben Gurion International Airport.
This is the Biblical region of Kiryat Yearim (2 Chronicles 1:4) and Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).

This unique Biblical Village was inaugurated in the year 2000 and was established with the assistance of the Swiss Beth Shalom society and the Israeli Antiquities Authority. Fig, pomegranate, almond, date-palm, olive and other trees, as well as grape vines are planted all around the compound, bringing to mind the parables and symbols of the Old and New Testaments.
A burial cave has been constructed, replete with sarcophagus
and ossuary, and nearby a cistern holds water for drinking and
irrigation. A Galilean synagogue forms the heart of the central
area of the Biblical Village. Its careful reconstruction includes
archeological pieces originating from the northern part of the Sea
of Galilee region.

The reconstructions of archeological sites and technologies
were made by Yehoshua Drey.
Mr. Drey is a leading expert of archeological reconstructions in Israel.
